Weekend Tips – United value in London

Sunderland to continue improvement

Wigan host Sunderland in one of the Saturday 3pm kick off’s. The home side go into this match as favourites at 11/10, the draw is 23/10 and an away win is 5/2. The odds on a win for the Latics look very short considering that they have only won once at home in their last 8 matches in all competitions. The Black Cats on the other hand have found some form, winning 3 out of their last 5 matches. They will also have new signings Alfred N’Diaye and Kader Mangane available for selection. In order to provide some insurance, I will be backing Martin O’Neil’s men on a ‘draw no bet’ basis so that if the match ends in a stalemate, my stake will be returned.

United Value to maintain momentum

Manchester United are rarely odds against in the betting markets. But the league leaders find themselves just that as they prepare to face a much improved Tottenham side. Still, I get the feeling that there really is a gulf in quality opening up between the two Manchester Clubs and everyone else. It has taken the Red Devils a few months to get their defence in order but it seems to have really improved of late and they are starting to look like the complete package again. At such tempting odds, I will be making them my value bet of the weekend.

No shortage of goals in Wales

There have been 17 goals in the last four league matches concerning Stoke City. As I highlighted last week, their defence is not in the same form as it was in the early part of the season. They are starting to score more goals than before too. Swansea are well capable of scoring at home, having scored 19 goals in just 11 home games in the league this season so far. With both teams looking safe in terms of Premier League status, they should each be looking for all 3 points in this fixture as they push for the European places. With that in mind, an entertaining tie looks on the cards and I will be backing 3 or more goals to be scored in the match.
