Gunning for another top-four finish
With Gareth Bale likely to depart Spurs and the future of Liverpool’s Suarez in doubt, Arsenal are playing an intelligent game. They have money to spend this season but how much they spend and who they target will depend largely on the transfer activity of the aforementioned clubs. I don’t see Suarez as a realistic target for the Gunners, but they’ve done a fine job at creating a stir at Anfield nonetheless.
Arsenal’s record of top 4 finishes is outstanding. For all their lack of trophies in recent years, their consistency and financial efficiency has to be admired.
The Gunners squad benefits from some quality players, combined with a well-established playing style and a stable management system. The likes of Walcott, Cazorla, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Wilshere can all improve further this season, whilst it would be no surprise if either Podolski or Giroud were to come on for the run they had last term, as both are clearly talented players.
With that in mind, the sensible money should go the way of the Gunners finishing in the top 4 in my opinion. 4/6 is the price and it represents good value. If that’s too short for you, read on for a tip with a price that will be more to your liking.
Bet: Arsenal to finish in the top 4 at 4/6 with William Hill.
Swans to continue moving upstream
Swansea can finish in the top 10 again this season. The retention of Michu and the acquisition of Wilfried Bony will help their cause. The Ivorian is strongly built and looks well suited to the Premier League. He comes with a proven goalscoring record and I believe he will have a decent impact for the Swans.
Manager Michael Laudrup has his team playing effective attractive football and it’s that style combined with defensive competency that makes Swansea a force. He’s had more time to work with his team and they can build on their ninth placed finish last season.
At odds of 2/1, this looks like a real value bet and if you back them, you can expect a very decent run for your money at the very least. The bet is as short as 5/4 in some quarters but is currently available at the quoted price with Betfred and Coral.
Bet: Swansea to finish in the top 10 at 2/1 with Coral.
