Jones hit with red card fine

Sunderland have slapped striker Kenwyne Jones with a fine following his red card against West Ham at the weekend.

Jones will also a three match following his altercation with Hammers full back Herita Ilunga, much to the disgust of manager Steve Bruce.

“That’s the disappointing thing of the sending-off, not just dealing with West Ham last week, we have got to go into the next three games without Kenwyne,” he said.

“That’s why he has been punished. The club has punished him.

“We have got a standard disciplinary procedure which comes into effect. It’s quite simple, it’s there in black and white for them.”

The partenership between Jones and summer signing Darren Bent has been impressive for the Mackems in the opening part of the season.
