Cabinteely invite Leicester for a friendly… if they both win the league

Irish First Division club Cabinteely got their 2016 campaign off to a winning start against Athlone Town on Friday evening, leaving them top of the table as things stand. Not many would expect the Dun Laoghaire based club to win the league this year, which is their second at this level of Irish level after applying for and being granted a license to join the highest echelons of Irish club football.

Now, they’ve visions of doing a Leicester and defying the odds with a league title win. Not ones to miss an opportunity, the club have issued a public invitation to Leicester City to play them in a friendly – but only if they both win the league.

As a team that started the 2016 season at odds of 80/1 to win the SSE Airtricity First Division, no one expected us to ever be top of the league, so naturally we are making the most of it while we can!

We have an invitation for Leicester City, a team that no one expected would be top of their league. If we both win our respective leagues, let’s organise a friendly to celebrate. We look forward to hearing from you, best of luck for the rest of the season.

Leicester City are in a fantastic position going into the final straight, while Cabinteely have quite a bit to go before we can consider them title contenders, but the offer is on the table… you never know, Jamie Vardy’s Party might be coming Stradbrook Road soon!
