Gallery: Ireland v Moldova in World Cup Qualifying Group D

Daryl Murphy netted twice and Sean Maguire made his debut as the Republic of Ireland beat Moldova 2-0 at the Aviva Stadium on Friday night.

Alwyn Robinson was on the ground for Back Page Football as the Boys in Green got off to a perfect start when Murphy got on the end of a long throw in to score inside two minutes.

The second goal was a joy to watch as Wes Hoolahan’s raking pass found Stephen Ward in space on the left, and the Burnley’s man’s cross was headed home by Murphy.

It was by no means a vintage performance from Martin O’Neill’s side but a win keeps them in the hunt for World Cup qualification with a trip to Wales next on the agenda.

You can check out more of Alwyn’s work on his website and Facebook.
