Chelsea go into the 2022/23 Women’s Super League, not just as the defending champions, but also looking to complete a hat-trick in the competition. Since the league was inaugurated in 2011, no team has been successful in three straight years.
The Blues finished one point above Arsenal last season, in what was a tight race for the title. They also won the FA Cup, making it an excellent campaign for Emma Hayes’ side.
One of the picks of Chelsea’s signings in the off-season is French defender Eve Perisset. She has been featuring in the European Championship this summer. Her side are 11/4 in the women’s Euros 2022 betting.
France are one of the leading women’s Euros tips for the trophy as they have been very impressive so far, particularly at the back. Perisset has shown she is a talented right back, who can not only defend well but also join the attack.

Hayes’ squad is also boosted by the arrival of Kadeisha Buchanan. The experienced defender has featured 123 times for Canada. The three-time Canadian Footballer of the Year won the league title in France five times, while she has also been successful in the Champions League on five occasions.
Striker Katerina Svitkova is the other notable signing Chelsea have made, as they look to defend their trophy. The Czech Republic international is very prolific for her country. She has played for West Ham for the past two years, so she is very familiar with the Women’s Super League.
Arsenal likely to be leading threat to Blues again
Arsenal are the most successful team in the history of women’s football in England. The 15-time champions are looking for their first success since the 2018-19 campaign. Although they have not made many additions in the summer, they have been able to retain all their big stars.

Gunners boss Jonas Eidevall will be very encouraged by the form shown by Beth Mead at Euro 2022. She has scored seven goals for England prior to the semi-finals, making her one of the standout players in the tournament.
With Mead and Vivianne Miedema leading their attack, Arsenal should be one of the highest goalscorers next season. They scored 65 goals in the 2021-22 campaign, the most by any club in the Women’s Super League. If they can improve on their defensive record, it will give them a great chance of going one place better.
Manchester City stronger with reinforcements
The 2016 Super League winners Manchester City finished third last season, but they have been busy over the summer adding quality to their squad. Leila Ouahabi has opted to switch from Barcelona to the English club. The Spanish international won the Champions League two years ago, while she helped Barca complete the league and cup double last season.
City manager Gareth Taylor has ensured there is a lot of competition in his squad to make his starting XI. With the club set to be involved in the Champions League, as well as their domestic programme, that could prove to be very helpful.
The 2022/23 Women’s Super League begins on the 11th of September and it will run through to the final round on the 28th of May.
