Adebayor wants £1m Spurs payoff after being banished to reserves

The Metro is reporting that former Arsenal and Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor wants a £1million payoff to leave Tottenham Hotspur.

The Togolese striker is still in the Spurs squad but is very much out of favour with the arrivals of Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela. It was expected to see him leave White Hart Lane this summer but a move away didn’t materalize.

Now, with no first team football on the horizon and a weakened relationship with manager Andre Villas Boas, Adebayor has been training with the youth side.

The 29-year-old wants Spurs to cancel his contract so he can go about securing a lucrative deal in the middle-east. He had an excellent start to his Tottenham career when he joined on loan from Manchester City, but his production has gone  downhill since making the move permanent.
