Good assessment of the situation. Besides the defense, the midfield has been a real Achilles heel thanks to Zac's bizarre tactics (e.g. playing Melo and Sissoko in centre mid in a 4-4-2 against Udinese). 3 more games to go and 9 points for the taking.

De Ceglie is more accurate with his crossing and has plenty of pace. If he's a liability, certainly Grosso is even more of one! Grosso plays with a lackadaisal attitude that pisses me off and his crossing has been bad lately. At least De Ceglie plays with heart. It's hard to judge him since he wasn't given the continuity Marchisio was given because Ranieri liked Molinaro (who can't pass with either feet even if his life depended on it) and insisted on running Nedved ragged 180 min a week. It's probably better for him to stay another season before it's decided whether he can cut it.

I'm still a little unsure about De Ceglie, but he needs some playing time to work out whether or not he is the answer.

I would liken De Ceglie to Abate at Milan. Young, lots of pace and best bombing forward. Both could use some seasoning on the defensive end, but won't ever get it without the playing time.

At the very least, they offer attacking width, lots of stamina and a good work rate.

I would say that De Ceglie is more accurate with his crosses than Abate, however.

Great article. Couldn't agree more except Paolo De Ceglie is not Juventus' long term answer at left back. He has been very disappointing. Too much of a liability at defense.
