Ronaldo the brazilian legend to name another. Both of these players' talent deserved more. Its crazy to say that about Ronaldo especially since he won the world cup and played for some of the biggest clubs in football but its true. I hate that hardly anyone nowdays remembers or even knows about Recoba!

Football now has become a joke and its all about money. I miss the days when Legends littered the continent, with names like Del Piero, Ronaldo, Nedved, Maldini, Zidane, Shevchenko, Ronaldinho, Figo, Zamorano, Bergkamp, Nistelrooy, I could go on and on. Hardly any players play with the consistent creativity and skill that these players showed each week.

Hi!

"El Chino" Recoba is alive and kicking; he's playing for Club Nacional de Football in Montevideo (he refused millionaire offers from China), he won the local championship (Campeonato Uruguayo 2011-2012), and he stays in his beloved team this year looking for another championship, at his 36 years old...

Respect THE man!

I am from Montevideo,Uruguay and I am a huge fan of Danubio FC. I had the opportunity to meet Recoba back in 1993 when he was still playing on the youth teams (under 17) and had a magnificent season after scoring 36 goals he moved to play with the first team and scored 32 goals within two years and "saved our lives" as the team was struggling to stay in the first division. I must say I really enjoyed this article, the story is very accurate and indeed he could have been the best player of the world, but if you know him you can tell he never wanted that, he just wanted to have fun and play football.
For us (Danubio fans) he is a living legend, and he is the best, because of his humble and unique personality, he could have gone to play for all the big teams in Argentina, Brazil or Uruguay, instead loyal to his home, his neighborhood and his love for the club, he decided to play for Danubio.
It is truly a gift to watch him every Sunday, he will be 35 years old next month and is in his best shape probably of the last 10 years, he is really committed to the club and the fans and runs like a 18 year old kid.
Must say his talent is still there as last Sunday February 21st we were 1-2 down 10 minutes to the end and he scored two goals in 5 minutes, that is Recoba.
He had the fame, the glory, Europe or Italy at his feet at one point but never changed and never forgot where he came from, and these days when football is just a dirty business , and players and managers only care about marketing, publicity and money more and more, guys like Recoba is what keep fan proud. Cheers !
