Video: Ter Stegen scores awful own goal and not for the first time

Borussia Moenchengladbach ‘keeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has had an absolute nightmare against Eintracht Braunschweig in today’s Bundesliga match between the two teams. Receiving a routine backpass, he inexplicably missed his first touch, allowing the ball to agonizingly roll over the line:

Ridiculously, this isn’t even the first time he has done this! In a 2013 international friendly between his country Germany and the United States, a similar situation arose when Benedikt Howedes passed the ball back to him only for him to make the same mistake which got him in a mess today. The United States won the game 4-3 after surviving a second-half comeback from the Germans:
