UEFA picks its best XI from the first round of EURO 2016 games

UEFA loves a best XI graphic, and they have put together one for the standout performers from the first round of action at EURO 2016.

The obvious flaw in the team is a lack of Wes Hoolahan, with Dimitri Payet and Toni Kroos occupying the wide creative positions, while N’Golo Kante and Eric Dier anchoring the midfield.

Many will be scratching their heads at Cristiano Ronaldo’s inclusion up front after he struggled to hit the target, never mind score, against Iceland.

Ronaldo is partnered by Real Madrid team mate Gareth Bale up front after the Welshman netted a free kick in his first outing against Slovakia.

Manuel Neuer is given the nod between the sticks, and the backline contains his team mate Shkodran Mustafi as well as three Spaniards РJordi Alba, Juanfran and Gerard Pique.
