Twitter now a medium for international recruitment

by Back Page Football

Former Manchester United and Stoke City defender Danny Higginbotham could make his international debut for Gibraltar at the ripe old age of 34 after being contacted by manager Allen Bula on Twitter.

It turns out that Bula is Higginbotham’s uncle and the latter qualifies for Gibraltar due to his Spanish mother.

Gibraltar are Uefa’s 54th member and will take part in qualification for Euro 2016.

Qualification for Gibraltar is that the player be a ‘Registered Gibraltarian’. Spanish mothers, grandmothers or budgies have nothing to do with the price of cheese.
