Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate has confirmed that Stoke City are in talks to sign Robert Huth and Tuncay for a combined fee of around £11m.
Germany defender Huth and Turkey forward Tuncay are discussing personal terms and undergoing medicals at City.
“The two clubs have agreed a fee and Robert is having talks with Stoke at the moment,” said Southgate.
On the Tuncay deal, he added: “Again, we have agreed a fee with Stoke City and the player is in talks with them.”
Stoke’s transfer for 25-year-old Robert Huth is expected to eclipse the fee of £5.5m club record fee paid for striker David Kitson last summer.
“Robert came over here early in his career and did well at Chelsea and Middlesbrough,” Stoke assistant manager Peter Reid told BBC Radio Stoke.
Tuncay, 27, has scored 15 goals in 58 appearances for Turkey, and finished as Boro’s top scorer in the 2008-09 season, netting eight times in 33 starts.
“We know all about him, he has plenty of experience in the Premier League.”
