Trap to make late decision on first XI
Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni will wait until the last minute to finalise his starting eleven for tomorrow’s World Cup playoff against France at Croke Park.
Ten of the team have been named with a decision still to be made over who will take their place on the right hand side of midfield.
Celtic’s Aiden McGeady and Stoke City’s Liam Lawrence are the two players in contention for the spot, with Fulham’s Damien Duff returning to the team on the left flank.
Shay Given is in goal behind a back four of John O’Shea, Richard Dunne, Sean St. Ledger and Kevin Kilbane, with Keith Andrews, Glenn Whelan and Duff confirmed in midfield, and Kevin Doyle partner skipper Robbie Keane up front.
