That’s exactly right. I grates me that people don’t regularly watch players, but assume they’re obviously great players.

Lazy assumptions of some players being streets ahead of others is so annoying. The likes of Alex Pato, Ibrahimovic, Philip Lahm, obviously must be world beaters. Personally i’ve never seen Pato have a game that warrants all the chat about him – similarly Lahm and Ibra.

I’d be happily put in my place by a true follower of these players, but until then can we get a bit realistic.

He’s a better player than Wesley Sneijder, who scored 4 goals domestically, and was awful and hugely selfish in general play at the world cup.

Sneijder is a good player, not a great one, and he’s only in the top 5 of people who don’t regularly watch him play, he’s a name pundits reel off because they are frankly lazy. He wasn’t near inter’s best player last season, how can he be the top 5 in the world?

Fabregas, Nasri and Ozil are better players right now.

Not a very astute list. Messi is alright, but everyone knows Fabregas is streets ahead of Xavi, whilst Baskets and Iniesta are the two most overrated players in world football history. Where is Arshavin?
