Top 10 Kits 2010/11

by Kevin Coleman

Coming up to each season it’s always nice to take a look at some of the new kits that will be sported throughout the new season, and this year there are plenty. From meaning and commemoration (St Pauli), to cool unique designs (Lyon, Marseille and Sampdoria) to old school simplicity (1860, Nottingham Forest and Hadjuk).

An interesting fact to tell your mates in the pub is that all forty Premier League kits next season (ie. just the home and away strips, some clubs use last year’s away kit as their 3rd alternative) are new kits.

Here are ten (really twelve, but the Lyon range is superb) top kits next season.

The Lyon Range

Sampdoria (Away) ………. St Pauli (3rd) ………. Marseille (Away)

Recreativo (away) ………. 1860 Munchen (home) ………. Hadjuk (away)

FC Twente (away) ………. Trabzonspor (home) ………. Notts Forest (home)

OK, I know you’re asking for some truly terrible efforts to go with our top choices, so here are three: Nice’s chequered kilt design, Werder Bremen’s lightning V effort and, of course, Everton’s cringe pink away strip.

I’m all about Kappa shirts. The Samp black one is actually nicer than the white for me, but both are class.

Roma also have a really tidy collection yet again.

Agree, Kappa have some beauties out this season – their Roma away one is very nice with the old style crest on it.

There’s so many around this year that it was hard to pick just a few.

I picked the Trabzonspor because the strikes go together really well, and the Puma tops are very nice and simplistic.

1860’s one is one of my faves, old school Argentina style.

That Nottingham Forest shirt is remarkably similar to an England away jersey.

And that purple Lyon shirt is hideous. It looks like a pair of curtains. Their 3rd shirt is designed for cyclists. The home one is okay.

Not one for uniqueness then Niall?

Fair play to Adidas for straying away from the usual templates and creating something like that.

I’m a purist. I like the nostalgic shirt and the simple ones.
I do like the idea of the new St. Pauli one, it’s just a rotten colour.

Curtain sheets exactly. Thats what 1st came to my mind as well looking at that 2nd Lyon one, lol
Nice’s & FC Twente looks like Golf shirts.
I am not that much impressed.
Those Sponsor names on front always ruin it for me, i hate them.
Sampdoria maybe best for me, I just like Slide stripes, always reminds me of Peru’s national shirt, which i love, but don’t know exactly why.
