Why is playing football in a beautiful way always the right way? What’s wrong with bulky centre halfs smashing strikers into orbit or a midfielder spending an entire game crunching bones of the opposition?

Totally agree with the article, as much as Mourinho has left Europe in his wake with the style of football he employs. He is yet to prove that he can engineer a team, who can play in the spirit of the game or realise that doing this could improve his own managerial ability or even simply to acknowledge that such a thing exists.

Guardiola has inherited a wonderful squad – that cannot be denied but to compare the style of the two managers is like chalk and cheese. Not just in terms of footballing philosophy (if you look at the kids from Barca they play the exact same way as the senior side!) but in off the field instances too. Guordiola conducts himself with grace and assurance. You will not see him poke someone in the eye or constantly be moaning about officials. Barcelona play football and whilst some of the antics from a few of their individual players cannot be condoned, they generally play football in the right way.

I completely agree with you that winning is his goal but what I don’t agree with are his methods to achieve this. Winning is the goal in all professional sport but it’s the negative aspect that comes with this which I am trying to highlight. Performance enhancing drugs or intentionally injuring opponents for example could be viewed as merely a method to achieve the ultimate goal of victory. I believe his tactics are stifling the brilliance of world class players and that is never good to see. Thanks for the feedback

I think you don’t give his porto team justice, Not saying the team wasn’t talented but it is easy now 6 years after that fact to say all these players are quality, at this time he backed his talent to win, akin to dortmund (it will be interesting to see how they go this year). His style isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing but really winning is his goal.

I don’t believe a person has free minded as Mourinho to disrespect the Beautiful Game of football… he brings to the game a discipline and a tactical side only compared to the MAN United.. Barcelona is a FULL MADE team… i want to see Pep Gaurdiola do what Mourinho did… You said he got good sides and it was his luck to get it to win the leagues… fair enough… i want to see Pep Guardiola do the same and i want to see you call it luck as well… Mourinho speaks his mind there is nothing wrong with it… irritates the shit of people like you who cannot appreciate the game of football for what it is… Tactical not Magical! Why do you think likes of Messi cannot do crap on the FIFA World Cup, he needs a TEAM to pass him the ball, alone he is crap… and that is what Mourinho does he CREATES a TEAM not a ONE Man Show type of football. You say he is not Brilliant… 3 Champions 3 Different Teams Luck no Luck hell that is a BRILLIANT Achievement for any man who can copy it. Cheers…
