But, tbh a lot of rubbish have had an England cap, Michael Ricketts, David Nugent to name a few. The Lampard and Gerrard partnership has never worked, so why didn’t Osman or Nolan have a call up.

All are decent players but they’ve played in an era when England have had strength in depth in midfield (Scholes,Beckham,Gerrard,Lampard etc). I don’t agree that Defoe is underrated, if anything i would say he’s been overrated throughout his career and failed to achieve what he’s promised.
