Hold on to your hats folks, the debate about video replays is about to come to the fore yet again after an incident in last night’s Bundesliga game between Hoffenheim and Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayer won the game 2-1 thanks in large part to a Stefan Kiessling header in the 70th, however replays showed that the ball actually went through a hole in the side of the net.
Referee Felix Brych awarded a goal, sparking outrage, and Hoffenheim are set to demand that the match be replayed.
“It’s a scandal,” said Hoffenheim managing director Alexander Rosen. “That was no goal, there are no two ways about it. We are definitely going to protest.”
