St Pats progress in Europa League

Krylya Sovetov 3-2 St Patrick’s Athletic (3-3 agg, St Pats win on away goals)

St Patricks progressed into the play-off round of the Europa League after a five goal thriller in Russia this evening.

Declan O’ Brien’s goal in the first leg at Richmond Park earned the Irish side an advantage going into the second leg.

The home side opened up a three goal lead in the second tie after an hour, but it was O’ Brien’s heroics again as he notched back a second goal on the 80th minute mark after a Sovetov player conceded an own goal to make it 3-1.

Anton Bober and a brace from Yevgeni Savin gave the Russians a comprehensive 3-0 lead, but O’ Brien’s fourth strike of the tournament was enough to put the Irishmen through thanks to the away goal rule.
