As a realistic Liverpool fan, and one that believes in the vision of FSG, I think it's safe to assume that we will not be challenging for a top 4 spot this season. This is entirely a rebuilding year. I'm expecting around top 8, and would be very pleased with top 6. We've made some astute signings this window, especially in Joe Allen, and a group of excellent young up and comers. We've also cleared an immense amount of deadwood from previous regimes, which will help us advance. An out and out striker would've been very handy, but I believe that no striker is better than a stop gap measure like Dempsey, provided we capitalise in the future on a proper one. All in all, expect to see LFC challenging for a CL spot in 2 or 3 years, and the PL title in 4 or 5.

Anyway enough about Liverpool. Excellent article! I'm looking forward to seeing how Sunderland and WBA fare throughout the season. We can only hope that this one was half as good as 2011-12.

All the reasons for the right reason. Very well picked up and elaborated. In fact one could see all these things roaming in front of his eyes while reading your article. On the other hand, a little word about MAN UTD. They need a lot of hard work in midfield in general and in defense in particular and looking at what happened yesterday, i have no doubt in saying that they have much more tough road ahead. Being a devil fan myself, i still say it out loud "GG MAN UTD"
