Think we'll have to agree to disagree Neil. I thought City lacked a certain amount of ambition and seemed intent on just doing enough.

I suppose that's one of the great things about football, we all see different things.

I also agree that City were the better side for the first 15-20 but they never pressed home that early advantage as Mancini's philosophy took over.

By no means did I think they parked the bus, but United are no great shakes and considering that the game was one one City couldn't afford to lose, if their ambition was winning the title, then I think that their tactics were unambitious.

"However, as ever in a big match the Italian resorted to type and went with a defensive set-up in the hope of leaving Old Trafford with at least a point."

Have to disagree there Willie. Unlike the usual setup, De Jong's injury forced Mancini's hand in terms of playing a more attack minded midfielder in James Milner. He could simply have gone like for like by starting Vieira but didn't.

Also City started very much on the front foot and were the better side for the opening quarter of an hour, typified by Silva's chance on six minutes. Some poor deliveries from Yaya and Tevez also wasted some good build up play.

Mancini has rightly been accused of parking the bus at various points but he did nothing of the sort at Old Trafford.
