I dont think that is the question lads. Loved the start of the piece, Kevin, where the blame for our poor style and performances was laid at the correct door. That of the FAI. As you say changes need to be made to the structures of football in this country for the national team to prosper. We need to break away from the style of the english game, and the 4-4-2, and become more fluid in our movement on the pitch and formations. We need to keep players in this country for longer to train them with better facilities and ideas that the Dutch guy Koovermans was working on. What was our plan B at the Euros? To play even more negatively with only 1 man up front.

I was hoping this article would tackle some real issues and not just name some additional players to be introduced to the set-up. People have been calling for all of these defenders and others to be given an oppotunity under Trap the last 4 years.

You also say the prospect of sitting and watching Derry v UCD does not appeal to you. All I can say to that is I feel sorry for you. You are missing out. UCD produce some of the best young players in this country and if you look at all LoI squads you will see they are riddled with former students. Derry also produce some of the best young talent in the league and proved under the managment of Stephen Kenny that they can compete domestically and internationally. They also have great supporters, possibly the most committed (and commitable) in the league.

Thanks Peter. :)

That is the real question indeed - will Trap remain as stubborn as ever, or will he change his ways?

It's a tough one, but in his last EURO2012 press conference I think he said he has to reconsider all aspects of the team.

It's a no brainer for me at least, that the side needs a serious shaking up if it wants to compete in the WC Qualifying stages.

Only time will tell of course but if he doesn't change things up, then he might just need to be shown the door!

Enjoyed that Kevin. That aside the real question, maybe, is will Trap make any changes. I don't honestly remember him taking anyones advice ever re Coleman nor James McClean for example and for that matter.

It will be interesting to see what if anything he does in the upcoming friendlies and then in the real games.

Either or a change has got to come and like you said with one that is not the favoured eleven.

Well done on a pretty thought provoking post ;)
