Report: MLS club targets German striker Lukas Podolski

Galatasary striker Lukas Podolski has been linked with a move to Major League Soccer side Toronto FC.

The 31-year-old is currently part of the German squad at the European Championships and is coming off a season where he scored 13 goals in 30 league games for the Turkish giants.

Toronto already have the league maximum three Designated Players in the form of Sebastian Giovinco, Michael Bradley, and Jozy Altidore.

However, MLS clubs can use allocation money to buy down an existing Designated Player’s contract, thus free up space to sign another.

Podolski is third on Germany’s most caps list with 128 to his name to date.
