Prominent Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo believes that Manchester United have stepped up their efforts to sign Neymar Jr. from Barcelona.
According to an article on the Mundo Deportivo website, United want Neymar to spearhead a new look attack under Jose Mourinho and are prepared to pay whatever it takes to secure the 24-year-old’s signature.
United have already negotiated a deal with Borussia Dortmund for playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan and rumours have surfaced again around a bid for their former player Paul Pogba.
For their part, Barcelona are keen to tie Neymar down with a long-term deal to remain in La Liga after he scored 31 goals in 49 games in all competitions last season as part of a devastating front line that also includes Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
Neymar was yesterday confirmed as one of Brazil’s squad members for the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio.
