In what would be a shock move ahead of the closure of the transfer window, David Luiz is reportedly interested in making a return to Chelsea.
The 29-year-old was at Stamford Bridge between 2011 and 2014 before making the move to Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 for £50 million, a world record fee for a defender.
The French champions would make a significant loss if the reported bid of 30 million by Chelsea comes to fruition.
But after being rebuffed when making initial enquiries about Luiz’s PSG team-mate Marquinhos last week, they begun talks over a deal for the Brazilian, despite initially being met with resistance.
Despite not winning a league title in his previous spell with Chelsea, Luiz picked up both Champions League and Europa League winners honours, and was part of the side that claimed the FA Cup in 2012.
The Brazilian has 55 international caps to his name and was voted into the FIFA World Cup Dream Team at the conclusion of the 2014 competition.
A dead ball specialist, there have been strong doubts about Luiz’s defensive abilities in the past and he has frequently played in the midfield as a result.
