Portland Timbers rock a Beatles inspired tifo

by Up Front

Fans of the Portland Timbers put a lot of effort into their pre-match displays in the stands and last night’s big Cascadia clash with the Seattle Sounders was no different.

Made up of Beatles lyrics, their latest offering looked fantastic when it was unveiled just prior to kick off at Jeld-Wen Field.

Portland won 1-0 thanks to a Khalif Alhassan goal just before the half time break and Seattle finished with ten men after Osvaldo Alonso was sent off for an elbow.

The back story is the Timbers Army were sending a message to the Sounders who are known for throwing a lot of money around for high priced stars and bragging about it, but who never can seem to put all the pieces together into a cohesive team when it counts. You can’t see the details clearly in the photo, but it also ribs the Seattle fans when it says “6 Brand New Songs that Seattle will steal.”
