Playing a captain’s role

by Neil Sherwin

After playing a starring role last weekend, Darren Bent is retained as captain for Gameweek 6 as Ruining Football continue their fantasy football journey.

The decision to put Darren Bent as captain for Gameweek 5 was a brave one, but it paid off as the striker bagged two goals in Sunderland’s win over Wolves. This week I think he could get on the scoresheet again away to Burnley, especially considering he is the team’s penalty taker.

A total points haul of 55 was solid, with Chelsea duo Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba chipping in as they seem to do every. Emilio Insua got the nod at left back for Liverpool and his clean sheet came in handy.

It wasn’t all positive though. Mark Noble was very much out of sorts for West Ham, and along with Ashley Cole, contributed just a solitary point. Patrice Evra, Jussi Jasskelainen and Aaron Lennon didn’t do much better with just two points each.

After Gameweek 6, the team is currently 23,264th in the world out of a total of 1,991,923 players.

James McFadden’s injury means there is a straight swap this week for Wolves striker Kamel Ghilas who looks a decent player at just 5.0 million. He had an outstanding game in round three against Bolton and is capable of more of the same against Birmingham.

Both Wigan players, N’Zogbia and Figueroa, are relgated to the bench in anticipation of conceding at least a couple away to Arsenal, while Ryan Shawcross is doubtful and joins them on the sidelines.

Jaaskelainen continues in goal ahead of Joe Hart, whose Birmingham side face a difficult to predict away trip to Hull.

There are some tricky fixtures this week that see players up against each other (Evra v Barry, Drogba/Lampard/Cole v Lennon, Noble v Insua) so it could end up being a total disaster.

Fingers crossed they all bag a goal each and cancel out any possible negatives!

Good looking team though with their upcoming fixtures I would like to try and work some Arsenal players into there. Love the Drogba and Bent combination up front – I’ve just used my wildcard to get the same pair. Keep up the great work and please have a look at my ramblings if you get a chance and let me know what you think:

    Not so sly plug ;)

Leaving my transfer this week, leaving me with two free ones next week. I currently have Bent as captain, that may change though.
