Back Page Tips: Play-Offs and Europe

The Champions League final and the Championship Playoff final are both personal highlights of mine and this weekend i’ve picked out the best possible value if you’re thinking of having a cheeky flutter on one or both of these massive games.

Inter Milian V Bayern Munich

Jose Mourinho will be chomping at the bit to round off an impressive treble with Inter Milan and simultaneously catapult himself further up the ladder of the greatest managers of all time.

Although Bayern Munich are a competent team that have played exceptionally at times this season, I think they will need to pull out all the stops to get a result against Inter in the Santiago Bernabeau stadium on Saturday night.

I think it will be a tight game, but Inter will win out in the end, possibly by a single goal. Bayern will push hard and I would not want to bet against them scoring. Instead I think i’m going to back Inter to win 2-1 or 3-1 at odds of 9/1 and 22/1 respectively.

Having said I think Bayern will score, I fancy a cheeky bet on Robben in the last goalscorer market on Skybet. The man seems to have come up with the goods late on in a number of games this season, not least against Manchester United in the quarter-finals.

Odds for Robben to net the last goal are 6/1 and going on recent history, that is solid value.

One more bet which might be worth flagging up is in the half time/ full time market. As I think the game will begin cagey and become more open as it progresses, I like odds of 4/1 on the Draw/Inter selection.

My bets:

Inter Milan to win 2-1 (@9/1)

Robben to score the last goal (@ 6/1)

Cardiff V Blackpool

The Playoff final, the so-called ‘richest game’ in world football, usually a spectacle and usually notoriously unpredictable, but I have identified some good value in this one too.

With everything at stake and with the level of football, well, one step below world class, I can see this one being an open encounter, making calling a winner even more difficult.

Cardiff are the favourites and a 2-1 Cardiff victory is priced at 17/2. Good value, but I think Blackpool will pose strong opposition. Extra time is certainly not out of the question, but if it is going to happen it is likely to come from a score draw rather than a goalless stalemate.

A 2-2 draw returns odds of 16/1 which is remarkable value for a game that is so tough to call either way.

My bet:

Draw 2-2 (@16/1)

One thing that’s for sure is that this weekend’s football fixtures will provide some exciting viewing, made all the more enjoyable by having a little bet on the outcomes.

Enjoy it and good luck!

Sorry Nick, I’m all over a Bayern win tomorrow night, I’ve a little inkling that they can grab a huge win.

The odds on the 2-2 draw in the Play-Off are very good.

Both games extremely hard to call.

    Not much value in either!
