Brilliant article. Haven’t read anything with as much sense, concerning Chelsea’s tactical/personnel conundrum and the decline in John Obi Mikel’s career trajectory.
Like Anderson, Mikel is supposed to be the chief attacking midfielder/number 10 type of player.
So is Oscar – and he plays that position for Brazil with quite some aplomb. Hope Chelsea don’t ruin him.

Good article, I’ve been thinking the same thing myself.
Even though Moses is away at the cup of nations, Benitez started with Bertrand in attacking midfield instead of Oscar today against Stoke. Despite the fact that Chelsea have played well so far, Bertrand has barely touched the ball at half time, so I don’t know what planet Benitez is on where he thinks a mediocre fullback can offer more going forward than one the most talented young players in the world.
I just hope we get Guardiola in the summer or somebody else that knows how to manage him properly.
