Happy New Year to one and all. We enter the year 2013 with plenty to look forward to. Before we know it we will be into the knock-out stages of the Champions League and the business end of the Premier League season, when things start to get very interesting indeed. With that in mind, its a good time to take a moment to look at the Outright Betting Odds from Setantabet for both of these competitions.
Premier League Winner Odds
Man United 4/11
Man City 7/2
Man United are seven points ahead of Man City and eleven clear of Chelsea who have a game in hand. It would take a brave soul to back United at such short odds with still eighteen games to go. That is not to say that they won’t win the league. In fact, they look very strong and tend to grow in strength as the season goes on. But both their noisy neighbours and Chelsea represent decent value in this market, particularly given the strength of their squads and their potential to invest in new players in the transfer market.
Premier League Relegations Odds
Aston Villa 6/4
According to the odds, it looks as though Reading and QPR should already be planning for life in the Championship. Its no surprise that Brian McDermott’s team are the favourites for relation despite being ahead of QPR. They simply don’t appear to have the money to spend on new players that Harry Redknapp could have. Although, whether or not the owners will invest in the squad remains to be seen. It may be a case of it being simply too late and not worth it. Of the other three, Aston Villa look the most vulnerable at present and I would back them for relegation over Southampton who just seem to have a lot more about them.
Champions League Winner Odds (Each way available at 2 places 1/2 Odds)

Barcelona are clearly still considered as the team to beat this season. They are nine points clear in La Liga and sixteen points clear of Real Madrid – their nearest rival in the Champions League betting market. Yet, it would clearly be foolish to write off Jose Mourinho’s team given their collective experience in Europe and their ability to beat anybody on their day. Bayern Munich have the pedigree to challenge yet again this season while Borussia Dortmund, although impressive, may be in need of the experience for now. Juventus at a price of 10/1 will be an attractive each way bet for some.
Premier League Betting Tips
Tip 1: West Brom to beat Fulham @ Evens with Setantabet.com
The Baggies look like a good bet to get the job done against a Fulham side who struggle badly on the road. In fact, the Midlands club have the third best home record in the league, scoring 16 goals and only conceding 7. Martin Jol’s men have only picked up seven points on the road this term, conceding 22 goals and scoring just 13. Their last away win came back in September.
Tip 2: Liverpool v Sunderland (Both Teams to Score) @ 5/6 with Setantabet.com
Liverpool will be expected to win this match comfortably but they are far from rock solid in defence and you would expect Sunderland to score at least a goal. The Black Cats have average a goal per game on the road this season and there has been enough improvement in their most recent performances to make this look like a decent bet.
Tip 3: Southampton v Arsenal (Theo Walcott to score at anytime) @ 11/8 with Setantabet.com
Walcott notched a hat trick and appears to be wholly enjoying his new centre forward role. He looks a likely goalscorer as he continues to prove his worth to Arsenal. The England International spent six years at St. Mary’s before his move to the Gunners and any chance of a big goal scoring celebration looks highly unlikely!
