Nadia Forde sings Amhrán na bhFiann – delightful or disgraceful?

by Back Page Football

We may be completely biased, but Ireland has one of the best national anthems around for igniting passion ahead of a big football match.

The sound of Amhrán na bhFiann echoing around Lansdowne Road is the perfect mood setter, however somebody in a position of authority decided to go with something different against Sweden last night.

Model Nadia Forde took centre stage and belted out a rendition which has split opinion to say the least.

Check out the video and comments below, is this the right way to get fans pumped for a massive World Cup qualifier? Not for us, and that’s as polite as we can be.

  1. Bring back the Garda band. Leave that X-factor rubbish for the television. Preferably on another channel to the football.

  2. Josie Smith says:

That’s not how the anthem should be sung. It’s not like the American Anthem being belted out by a trained professional gospel singer. Put the words up on a screen, let the Garda Band play and let the crowd join in at the normal speed.
Model, Guest TV appearances (Rep. of Telly), singing…..will her talents never start?
