Lucas was mooted by Kev actually, but I just couldn’t find enough on him to suggest he’s improved dramatically. I would say that he’s improved to some degree, but I feel the slating of him last season was a little childish and unfounded anyway in all honesty, and mostly promoted by fans of opposing sides looking for weakness in a strong Liverpool side.

Malouda stands alongside Dawson for me. Good in 2008/09, especially in the later part for Malouda, but the degree that he has pushed these boundaries even further this season deserves to be commended as far as I’m concerned. Improvement from 6/10 to 9/10 deserves a mention as much as improvement from 2/10 to 7/10 in my humblest. But I admit, looking at his statistics from last year, it was a little difficult being too emphatic on such improvements since he was solid in the latter part of last year.

How about Lucas Leiva?

Malouda played well during the last third of 08/09 so I don’t think he can be categorsied as ‘most improved’.

Gareth Bale gets my vote, considering he hadn’t won a game with Spurs before this season.

Haha clearly in discussing this through an exceptionally researched four tweets, me and Kev clearly missed Darren Bent! Although I would say that not everyone would say that Darren Bent was poor last season, just misplaced at Tottenham. But I agree, probably should have had a place in the list. Also agree with Kev that Fellaini was fairly decent last year (87 bookings apart, obviously) so he didn’t really spring into my mind.

Only referred to Bale as a full-back since he seemed to be bought as that for Tottenham. Should have mentioned his improvement since playing further forward in the latter part of the season.
