Good article Nik i think you've touched on some good points. United do have problems in the middle of the park and have tried both Smalling and Jones in midfield since Cleverley got injured. Although Fergie made his signings early in the summer, rather than his continued courtship of Schnieder, i believe they should have pursued Schweinsteiger harder. He can play as a combative holding midfielder to allow the rest of the midfield to go and play. The German can win the ball and has a great range of passing, as well as a fearsome shot.

As for City, i believe their problems were on the left side, but the signing of Nasri really solidifies their frontline and although Clichy is a full back who has had his problems, he is just a transition player until they can sign a decent left back. City seem further down the line to knowing their best side and formation this season right now.
