Its SAF & SAF alone that killed Nani, what a hell is jones, valencia, cleverly & young doing in united squard, poeple who can hv more than 20 appearences & cant score a single goal yet they all have access to the box? Nani had less than 15 appearences but he managed to score 3 goals yet they are ever complaining about his inconsistence, even cr7 was given enough time to shine & it was easy for fergie to criticise Nani for dispossesing the ball than the defender who had scored in his own goal, remember chelsea game that it was Nani that brought the goal but for the case 1-1 draw with spurs I never had any complaint against valencia who hesitated to clear away the ball, may be SAF dint dint hv enough confidence in him

Nice article Cian but the idea that Nani is inconsistent is a myth. You might look at the stats in this link before writing an article critical of his consistency. A winger’s consistency is measured in assists firstly, then goals. I think you’ll find that the cold hard figures on his goals and assists refute the argument you’re trying to make (you need to hit the ‘career’ link to bring up his stats):

It’s really only this past season the Nani has not returned SAF’s faith in him. Looking back at this record for his previous 5 seasons makes for impressive reading – he had 15 goals and 15 assists for 2011/12 and 13 goals and 17 assists for 2010/11, which was an increase in his already good return for the club.

I agree that he can frustrate by trying fancy tricks that dont come off, he is not the best defensively and rolls around like a girl far too much but I would certainly have him in the team over Young and he is at least the equal of Valencia. He will consistently get you double figures goals and/or assists each season.

I hope that last season is just a blip, that Moyes keep him and he returns to his previous form.

SAF is now totally deluded and clueless. His shocking ommission of WR in favor of SK or DW is just pure madness and Utd paid for it. And if Nani is not wanted, get rid of him, buy a central MF for God’s sake. Cleverley and CO are just not good enough. And Evra? Sorry, stale and way past sell-by date. Sorry SAF, your pathetic purchases in 2011 ( Jones, Young, Gea etc ) are killing the club. Last season was a big fat zero, this season might be a repeat. If JM is available, Utd should get him before he, like PG, is lost too. The Club is bigger than anyone, SAF included. Period.
