Liverpool and Arsenal looking for Yohan Cabaye?

by Up Front

Rumours are emerging that both Arsenal and Liverpool are interesting in signing Yohan Cabaye from Newcastle.

The Northern Echo reports that Brendan Rodgers is monitoring the Frenchman’s status ahead of a possible bid in the January transfer window, while it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Arsenal rekindle their interest that was rebuffed last summer, leading to Cabaye sitting out Newcastle’s season opener against Manchester City.

However, considering Arsenal’s current plethora of midfield options, it’d be strange to see them invest big money in a player to compete with the in-form Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and company.

Liverpool, on the other hand, currently seem short stocked in the centre of midfield and with age not of Steven Gerrard’s side and Lucas Leiva not performing to his usual high standards, Cabaye would be a major addition to their squad.
