Problem is, like Defoe or Owen, they all think they are better than they are and can only play for a “top” team. If you want football go to a team that guarantees it.

For me Cole never lived up to the potential he had as a youngster. He had the billing as the next big star, the kind of player England haven’t been producing and that is skillful, intelligent footballers who could create magic out of nothing. Bar the occasional glimpse of this, Cole never lived up to it for me and its a pity.

I think he needs to find a club where he can start 30+ games a season and get that under his belt before doing anything else. At Liverpool he’s just a bit of a last 10 minutes showpony. Unfortunately clubs like Bolton, Wolves etc wouldn’t want him for the wages he demands.

As a Chelsea fan, I can give my opinion from viewing him play rather than just a knee jerk reaction based on a handful of games this season for LFC.

I think he did have the potential to be great, and was at times world class. However there were a few things which let him down.

One is that he has always been a lousy finisher, meaning he never got enough goals for an attacking midfielder. Next is he got played on the left when he was far better on the right. Lastly he received the reputation of being lazy / defensively poor, when in fact he was no worse than most other wingers or AM’s, and far better than many….. tbf by the time Mourinho had finished with him he was one of the best AM’s defensively.

Finally injuries came at the wrong time and like many players he is susceptible to weight gain and this he hasnt been able to shift…. it is a shame everyone now acts like he was never good. He was brilliant at Chelsea at times and when he got a run of games in he was also consistent. For England he has always played well until very recently. Fans have short memeories and are far too fickle.

Lastly he has given everything for every club he has played for whether he was fully fit or not – and that goes for LFC too…. so the lazy stuff is BS!

I hope he recovers his fitness and form but i doubt it.

if he really wants to play ..he should come back to the hammers on loan for a season..but i think he has become a typical fat lazy prem player ..just like the lot that got us relegated..!..michael owen!!..thats another one..i could go on..ha..championship football..i cant wait..

His legs have gone. He’s been finished as a Premiership-level player for two full seasons. He’ll have one decent game in every dozen, if he’s lucky. And for him a decent game means scoring a tap in from a yard or mis-hitting a shot in off the post. He should be playing out his final seasons at Crystal Palace or Brentford.

Has never been a genius. Suffered from a lot of hype.

Truth is every manager he has played under hasn’t really fancied him as a player, excluding his time at West Ham.

On the subject of West Ham I don’t know many fans that gave them their grace in joining Chelsea. They hate Chelsea! Remember his childish sending off away at Bolton when they were relegated? Not many West Ham fans enjoyed that.

Joe Cole is fat and lazy, he has been a disgrace at Liverpool and the sooner we bomb him the better!!!!
