Nigeria came back from a goal down to win the encounter in Nairobi against Kenya, and thanks to a loss from Tunisia they were able to book their place in South Africa next year.
Meanwhile Cameroon and Gabon were both vying for the only spot that would qualify them for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa but the Indomitable Lions did the job right by beating Morocco 0-2 at home.
Cameroon will be playing in the World Cup for the 6th time, a record for an African country.
They join Japan, Netherlands, North Korea, Australia, South Korea, USA, Brazil, Ghana, England, Paraguay, Spain, Denmark, Ivory Coast, Chile, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Serbia, Switzerland, Argentina, Honduras, Slovakia and South Africa, as hosts, who have already qualified for the tournament.
