This week’s Hold the BackPage kicks off with a look at the recent Premier League action where Manchester City finally lost a game. Ger McCarthy and Willie Gannon still seem confident about Roberto Mancini’s side and their title winning chances, unlike Neil Sherwin who suffers from the “Typical City” mentality.

There’s discussion about the other top sides as Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal all recorded weekend wins, while Norwich City come in for praise following their three points against Newcastle United.

Part two has Joseph Sexton on board to talk about the FIFA Club World Cup which involves Barcelona, who will most likely face Santos in the showpiece final. The lads then move on to La Liga and the weekend’s big Barcelona and Real Madrid clash which didn’t disappoint, and there’s an assessment of the tactis involved as well as Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance, or lack thereof.

Joseph also answers questions on a number of other sides in Spain before the show wraps up with Ger feeling very under appreciated.

  1. think what was said about gary neville is great,i cant stand the guy, being a liverpool supporter, but he definately knows the game,he calls it as he sees it even if i dont like him.he is turning out to be a superb pundit, the talk about city is spot on,its theirs to lose.i think ye re right about torres is right aswel, liverpool had their team organised around torres, and it suited him.cant see him leaving for any english club and i dont see any other european tean paying the figure chelsea will be looking for.

  2. i also agree on ye re thoughts about barca, and ronaldo,i think ronaldo even at united is a super player, but he is only ever worried about himself.if things are good he will def look the business, but when u really need him to be there he tends to go missing, this isnt new,i really enjoyed listening to your show and will definately be listening again.great show lads
