Given the outcome of the Champions League Final, it’s rather disappointing that Tom isn’t about to breakdown the game, but the lads do a good job of dissecting it anyway. Neil asks whether there is a chance that a new heir to the throne may emerge next season, much to the scoffed tones of Ger, while Niall lets the side down by admitting to engaging in some GAA activity.
In part 2 there’s chat about Swansea’s fantastic win over Reading in the Championship Playoff Final before coming down off that high to discuss the current FIFA political issues that are dominating headlines off the field.
The pod rounds off with a look at Ireland’s first international honours since the Triangular Tournament of Iceland in 1986. The Nations Cup was a bit of dud in terms of fan interest but Ger believes that it gave a good idea who wants to play for their country and who doesn’t ahead of an important European Championships qualifier this weekend. There’s also a bit of reaction to Robbie Keane’s 49th international goal and just how important it is to equal Sir Bobby Charlton’s record.
It may be the end of the Premier League season but football doesn’t stop for a break and neither will we so the pod will be continuing as normal throughout the summer!
