Neil Sherwin is joined by Willie Gannon and Niall Farrell to discuss Ireland’s opening World Cup Qualifier, as well as the current state of play in the League of Ireland.

It was a less than satisfactory performance by Ireland against Kazakhstan, giving Neil and Willie plenty to discuss regarding Giovanni Trapattoni and his future as national team boss. There’s a look at the positives and negatives around the international setup at the moment with a number of players set to get a chance to impress in this week’s friendly with Oman.

In part two, the focus switches to Irish domestic football with Niall Farrell bringing us up to speed with all the latest happenings in the Airtricity League as Sligo Rovers continue to lead the way. There’s discussion over Shamrock Rovers’ underwhelming season as well as the structure of the league.

  1. Listened this morning on the metro, Willie, it was great to hear someone speak with a mind of their own. Last time you admitted not to knowing much about the Kazakhs (Neil and Ger too), and to underestimating them, nobody else in the media was honest to admit that. Good synopsis, a little harsh but good. Liked the LOI piece, it’s warming up nicely at home!
