Gerrard pulls out of England team

Football - England v Ukraine 2010 World Cup Qualifying European ZoneSteven Gerrard has pulled out of England’s squad to play the Netherlands on Wednesday due to a groin injury.

An FA official statement revealed the Liverpool midfielder will sit out the game along with Ben Foster who withdrew after suffering a knock in Sunday’s Community Shield.

Steven Gerrard will not travel to Amsterdam this morning for England’s friendly with Holland on Wednesday

No replacement has been named, however Birmingham ‘keeper Joe Hart has been called up to replace Foster.

England squad for their friendly against the Netherlands on Wednesday:

  1. These internationals a week before the season kicks off are ludicrous anyway. I can’t believe the FA agreed to them. A complete waste of time.
