Ireland rounded off their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 3-1 win at home to Kazakhstan but it was the visitors who scored the goal of the night with this stunning effort from Dmitriy Shomko (who later notched an own goal)

In the same group, Germany came from two goals down to beat Sweden 5-3 with Andre Schurrle notching a hattrick and his third effort was the pick of the bunch.

France are into the playoffs having finished behind Spain in their group and Franck Ribery scored a beauty in the comfortable 3-0 win over Finland.

England confirmed their place at next year’s finals by beating Poland 2-0 Wembley with Steve Gerrard rolling back the years to take his goal well after bursting through from midfield.

Switzerland will be one of the seeded teams at the World Cup and celebrated their qualification with win over Slovenia thanks to this stunner from Granit Xhaka.
