Final Day Betting Tips

by Nick Higgins

It’s here at last. The final weekend of the Premier League season is upon us but back page tips will not stop here. With the FA Cup final, the major play-offs, the European finals and the World Cup all still to be played, I’ll be in place to flag up the best value for those of you having a cheeky bet on all the high profile games throughout summer.

So, Chelsea or Manchester United? These two old warhorses are at it again and this season the title race has been the closest for years. Thankfully, this Sunday we will know whether Man United have managed to win a record fourth concecutive title, or whether Carlo Ancelotti has successfully steered his Chelsea side to their first title since 2006.

Given the nature of this occasion, I have found the best value in the correct score markets for both Chelsea and Manchester United’s final games of the season.

Chelsea V Wigan

In the last five weeks Chelsea have scored seven goals on two separate occasions but there is no chance of that again here. If you fancy Chelsea to storm to the title, you can get odds of 50/1 for a 7-0 win. If you want my advice, buy a lottery ticket instead.

I think it is going to be a nervy final day but Chelsea will win. The odds of a Wigan victory are 25/1, and the shortest odds in the correct score market see a 1-0 Wigan win priced at 40-1. If you are a Manchester United romantic these prices show remarkable value and, as it is the final day I suppose anything can happen. But this is not where I will be placing my money.

Despite winning only one of their last three games, Wigan have scored seven goals and, given that tension will be in abundance on Sunday, I think they might get one at Stamford Bridge.

What’s more, odds for a Chelsea victory are better priced if they concede. A 2-0 win is priced at 5/1 whereas a 2-1 victory is out at 11/1.

If Wigan score the result is most likely to be 2-1 or 3-1 to Chelsea, with both outcomes priced at 11/1 with SkyBet it is good value and worth a couple of quid.

My Bet:

Chelsea to win 3-1 (@11/1)

Manchester United V Stoke

Earlier in the season Man United beat Stoke 2-0 at the Britannia stadium. This time around they know they have to win at Old Trafford to have any chance of claiming a record 19th league title.

But Stoke are no slouch and will be looking to cap off a commendable season by securing a finish in the top half of the table.

In the end, I think United will prevail but it will be far from comfortable. A single goal margin is likely and odds of 7/1 for a 1-0 united victory are good value.

Similar to the game at Stamford Bridge, Stoke will have a good chance of scoring as United push for the win. With this in mind, I’m going for United to win 2-1 at 10/1. This is great value for what is likely to be a tight, edgy encounter.

My Bet:

Manchester United to win 2-1 (@10/1)

The ambitious accumulator:

Here is another accumulator for the final weekend’s fixtures. As the name suggests it is ambitious, but you don’t get anywhere without taking risks. The teams in BOLD should be selected to win.

ARSENAL V Fulham

ASTON VILLA V Blackburn

Bolton V BIRMINGHAM CITY

CHELSEA V Wigan

EVERTON V Portsmouth

Hull V LIVERPOOL

MANCHESTER UNITED V Stoke City

Wolves V SUNDERLAND

Odds 45/1

Good luck and make sure you keep up to date with all the back page tips in the coming weeks for all the big games!

Haha, if this page was a piece of paper i’d screw it up but thanks to the internet my claim that you’d be better off buying a lotto ticket than betting on chelsea to score 7 on a day they scored 8 will be here for everyone to see for ever. ooopps – bad day at the office.
