Fabio Borini’s fantastic Tyne-Wear Derby winner

by Up Front

Sunderland’s Fabio Borini has cemented a status for himself as a club cult hero after his fabulous derby winner this afternoon against Newcastle.

The forward is on loan from Liverpool and was relatively out of favour under Paolo Di Canio. After coming on with twenty minutes left, he buried this strike past Tim Krul.

Sunderland went 1-0 up with a header from Steven Fletcher, before Mathieu Debuchy equalised just before the hour mark.

This will be a huge confidence boost for the Italian who has struggled to make an impact after joining Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool.
