Mourinho forgot Van Persie’s sending off? No, not quite. He did mention that (something along the lines of “Even Arsenal has a man sent off against them! Arsenal!”), but it wasn’t listed anywhere I sourced the quotes from last night. I was working hard to get the piece up, before I was able to catch the entire (or indeed, any) clip.

They might do their talking on the pitch, yes. But they do a lot of a baloney on it too.

Surely no Barca fan can be proud of Busquets clutching his face every damn time he falls down when nothing but the wind hit it? Surely no Barca fan can be proud when Dani Alves writhes in simulated pain after a Pepe tackle which was dangerous, but yet did not hit Alves at all? Oh and he rode the stretcher too for good measure, only to come running back seconds later!

This is beyond preposterous. I have always stood firm in preferring La Liga’s skillful, technical game. But this match was an advert for supporting EPL, really. Overt cheating just overwhelms everything else at some point.
