Everton suspend Brazilian Jo

Everton have suspended on-loan striker Jo after returning to Brazil over Christmas without the club’s permission.

The 22 year old, who is at Goodison Park until the end of the season from Manchester City, has been removed from the squad to face Carlisle in the FA Cup this weekend.

“We like Jo and he has been a really good lad. We have enjoyed having him but there has to be discipline at all football clubs,” said Everton boss Davi Moyes.

“He left over a busy period for us and left us short of players.

“I found it very difficult so at the moment he’s suspended from the club.”

Jo joined Manchester City in 2008 for £18 million after scoring 44 goals in 77 games for CSKA Moscow but struggled to make an impact at Eastlands.
