Despite the fact that they have struggled to play together for England throughout their international careers, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard are still firm favourites with supporters.
Ahead of tomorrow’s World Cup qualifier with Poland, England fans were asked who they would be most proud to see play for their country.
The survey of 1,748 respondents aged 18+ in England was conducted by award-winning home phone and broadband provider Plusnet, and threw up a mix of past legends and current squad members.

Goalkeeper: Gordon Banks (39%)
Defenders: Bobby Moore (57%), Gary Neville (19%), Rio Ferdinand (16%) and Ashley Cole (13%)
Midfielders: David Beckham (49%), Bobby Charlton (45%), Steven Gerrard (28%) and Frank Lampard (23%)
Strikers: Gary Lineker (46%) and Alan Shearer (39%)
