With the international break over, fantasy football makes a welcome return this weeked, meaning it’s decision time once again for Neil Sherwin.
I hate international football, and I mean that in the nicest possible way. Enjoyable and all as it is there’s no fantasy football meaning it feels like the summer all over again. Actually it’s worse because there’s a chance a key member of your team will pick up an injury just like Andrey Arshavin this week.
Thankfully, it seems that all members of Ruining Football have come through unscathed except for John O’Shea who is being cut this week anyway. His replacement will be Emilio Insua. With 6.1 million to spend, picking a Liverpool defender isn’t easy with both Glen Johnson and John Carragher too pricey. None of the others are certain starters at the moment so I’ve gone for Insua even though Fabio Aurelio is back from injury.
If Insua doesn’t play I have Ryan Shawcross in reserve, though I’m hoping Chelsea dish out a hiding against Stoke at the Britannia. We’ll be going with a trio of left backs as Cole and Evra also play. The midfield and forward lines are unchanged from the last gameweek while Jaaskelainen is in goal ahead of Joe Hart.
As captain this week I’m going for Darren Bent. Sunderland are at home to Hull, and have robbed their best player in Michael Turner, so I can see both Bent and strike partner Kenwyne Jones having quite a profitable day.
The aim this week is to pick up where we left off before the internationals when the points haul was a solid 69. The decision to lump on Chelsea against Burnley proved very profitable thanks to the performances of Cole, Lampard and Drogba.
The signing of Aaron Lennon also paid dividends as he bagged a last minute winner for Spurs at home to Birmingham. Solid performances from Barry and Shawcross were also welcome contribution.
With the first four gameweeks complete we currently sit in 31,899th place in the world out of a total of 1,966,799 players.
