With the sponsors calling for an Asian signing, I think it could be the perfect excuse for Liverpool to finally move on Keisuke Honda. Ashley Young would be an expensive disaster.

The leftback at this stage is looking like Jose Enrique who will be available.

Midfielder-wise, Commolli has been praising Matuidi for his possession-retention. We have also been linked with M’Vila and Moussa Sissoko. The midfielder will be one of those.

At this stage the only real mystery is who the centreback will be. Cahill is too expensive and from what I see Jones is not technically good enough. He would be too expensive also. Scott Dann, a scouser, has been linked. He would probably be an astute signing.

Neck out; Marveaux, Matuidi, Honda, Dann and Enrique. Outlay of 35-40m.

Of couse King Kenny will know better, but I hope losses are contained to Cole( or Maxi), Jovanovic, Soto, El Zhar, Aquilani, Degen, and Konchesky. Nearly 30millions worth raised there and (collectively a massive profit), and nearly 300k in weekly wages freed up.

I’d like to keep Poulsen in the squad because he is vastly experienced at the top and we are weak in depth in centre midfield. This would allow Spearing to go on loan for the latter half of the season and only one “new-Vieira” type need be signed.

I think the best thing to do with N’Gog is to give him a full season of first team football in Ligue 1 or the Premiership. Afterwards he can return and play a part or be sold for many multiples of what he cost.

This means signings will be Marveaux, a towering centreback(to replace Soto and play the 50percent of games Agger misses), a defensively solid left-back, a new-Vieira type as a foil/competition/backup for midfield and a marquee signing in the guise of a winger which will be the only player signed with fresh funds

Cavalieri is not on loan, he was sold to Cesena at the start of the season.

Also Jose Enrique is Spanish not Argentinian.

Emiliano Insua however is Argentinian and is on loan to Galatasaray, and would make an ideal back up for the left side of defence under the guidance of Dalglish.

Reina won’t come to Arsenal, we have Szczesny now; no need for Pepe! Nice article though, enjoyed it. I do have a little bit of a soft spot for Liverpool to be honest.

Given is in his late 30s, not a chance the Liverpool board would go for such an old replacement.

I’m of the opinion that Reina won’t leave in the summer anyway.

Kenny Dalglish has done a great job so far and I expect Liverpool to benefit from his managerial skills. Ashley Young and Jarvis could improve Liverpool’s game as they are both creative wingers.

Attack wise I think than rather buying another player (though I would love to see wickham with us) we better give more time to the likes of Pacheco, who will become one of the best. He will be the best substitute for Suarez, should the latter not be able to play a game.

Super stuff Andrew and well written.

Reckon Shay Given would be an ideal replacement for Reina if he moves on. Liverpool need major surgery in defence and I don’t think one summer will fix the long-term issues that exist there.

Someone to compliment the skills of Gerard in the centre of the park is a must as Liverpool have yet to replace Xavi Alonso.

Up front at least two decent understudies to Carroll and Suarez are necessary but I doubt the money is there at the minute so another season of mediocrity beckons before the Reds can threaten the top four again.
